Everyone loves portable apps. What’s not to love? You stick them in a USB drive, plug it in any computer and you’re good to go. No installation necessary. Just plug your USB in and you’ve got all your applications ready for use.
While there are various portable app suites, we’ll talk about just one for now. We’ll cover the others in a separate post.

With the release of Windows 7 just around the corner, most users of the Windows OS are eager to find out just what to expect with the final release version. Ed Bott over at ZDNet provides an early peek at Windows 7.

Anyone who’s had a computer for a while will inevitably end up with hundreds of folders in different directories. After a while, you’ll find yourself wishing for an easy way to just bring all your files to the root folder. That’s exactly what this next app will do.
Suction is a free Windows app that will get rid of your unwanted folder trees and leave you with your files all in the root folder. Just drag the directory with all subfolders into the program and it will get rid of the folder tree while bringing your files to the root directory. Think of your images folder or videos folder.

Windows XP and Vista users who are wanting to upgrade won’t have to wait too long. Microsoft has announced the release date of the next version of Windows along with the prices for different versions.
The release date for Windows 7 is set for October 22 so those of you testing out the release candidate know how much longer you’ll have to wait. Windows 7 will be available in 14 languages at launch: Japanese, Korean, English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Russian, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Chinese (Hong Kong). Other languages will be added on the 31st of October.
Windows 7 Home will go for $119 and Windows 7 Pro will cost you $199. Will Microsoft decrease the price scheme as the launch date nears? We’ll see.
