The Mozilla Blog recently announced the addition of Microsoft’s search engine Bing to the upcoming Firefox 4 search bar.
If you look closely at the list, you’ll notice that Answers.com and the Creative Commons search engine have been removed.
Mozilla’s official statement about the removal from their blog:
“Answers.com is a good service but we have found and we have heard from our users that Wikipedia is more useful as an included reference search engine. The Creative Commons search engine has changed over the years from one focused on locating CC licensed materials to one focused on providing a general search from Google, Yahoo! and others.”
Adding Bing seems like a good idea. We’ll see what else changes as the release date draws near.
We’ve all known it was coming sooner or later, and now, it’s here. Google TV has landed. For those unfamiliar with what this is ( I highly doubt there are many if at all), Google TV basically lets you search through content on your TV like the web, apps, internet videos, and switch back to regular television without needing to change inputs.
So far, there 2 ways to get it. Get a smart TV like the Sony Internet TV, or use a separate box like the Logitech Revue along with your TV. Since Google TV uses Chrome and Adobe Flash Player 10.1, your Android phone or iPhone can actually be used as a remote.
Preloaded apps include Netflix, Twitter, CNBC, Pandora, Napster, NBA Game Time, Amazon Video On Demand and Gallery. This is really a couch potato’s dream. Checking out Twitter while watching TV, or looking at the stats as you watch a basketball game. Developers will be able to create their own apps by next year. Lots of possibilities.
Those of you waiting for the upcoming fighting game Marvel vs Capcom 3 should find this interesting. DasReviews has come up with a possible full character roster.

Here’s something for all those who regularly watch videos online. How about watching all the videos from specific years? Want to see videos made during the 70s? How about the 50s? Even earlier? No problem.
YouTube Time Machine lets you pick an era and gives you a list of videos made during that time. A slider at the top of the page lets you choose which era you want, from 1860 – 2010. Impressed yet? I sure was.
A list on the right displays how many videos are available for that era and what genres they belong to. Site visitors can upload videos to add to the growing collection within YTTM. It’s a great idea and definitely one video site that everyone should have as a regular stop.
Now for a sample. Here’s the trailer for the 1954 flick Seven Samurai.
Sony has just launched their free MMO, Clone Wars Adventures. Interested players only need an email to register and play. Players can create characters that fight alongside Star Wars: The Clone Wars characters like, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Ahsoka Tano. There are only 3 types of characters you can choose from: a human jedi, an alien jedi, or a clone trooper. Not much luck on customizing your character totally as the game doesn’t really give you a lot of options.
The game was created with childrens’ online safety in mind which is why there are parental controls, restricted chat, and an option to limit gameplay time for kids. This is good news for parents looking for safe online games for their children.
Whether we like it or not, PDF files are everywhere. Sometimes, it seems as though certain PDF files would be easier to view as an image file. Yes, there are hundreds of free PDF converters out there but we’ll focus on one for now.
PDF To JPG Converter does just that. It converts your PDF files to JPG for free. Want a different format? The app can convert your docs to BMP, TIF, GIF, and PNG as well.
While we could argue that the app would be better with more advanced options, the program’s easy to use as it is and does what it is named for. All in all, it’s a worthwhile download.
