With all the versions of Windows throughout the years, there have been quite a lot of improvements to Microsoft’s operating system and yet its file manager still seems to be lacking something. How about tabs?
This may not be important to most casual Windows users but to anyone used to tabbed interfaces from browsers, mail clients, and various software, having a file manager with tabs would be like a gift from Santa.
ExplorerXP is a free file manager for Windows that has features not included with the default Windows Explorer. The first thing you’ll notice once you start the application is the tabbed interface. That feature right there makes it a great app.

ExplorerXP displays folder sizes and the real size of compressed files and folders. Other features included are USB device support, the ability to rename multiple files in one step, UNICODE support, merge/split utilities, and configurable keyboard shortcuts.
The download size is only 410 KB and it’s free. Didn’t I say it was a great deal?
