When you have more than one person using a computer, a lot of your computer’s settings will be changed. Screen resolution is one of them. Each person has a different resolution preference and you’ll end up changing them after somebody else uses your rig. Here’s a simple solution.

Caroll is a free Windows download that will let you set a different screen resolution for each user account on your computer. At first run, the application will display all the available resoultions.

Once you’ve finished setting it up, Caroll will automatically load the resolution set for that user account when it logs on.

The app runs on Windows XP and Vista.

Yet could you claim to be a keyboard adept as well? For those who still haven’t acquired the skill of touch typing (typing without looking at the keyboard), here’s a simple fix.

Touch Typing Tutor is a free typing tutor for Windows. The program helps you type faster, more accurately, and teaches you to type without looking at your keyboard.

If you’re put off by the background image, don’t worry. You can easily choose a white background to remove any distractions. Lessons start out simple enough and increase in difficulty as it progresses.

A virtual keyboard is included to show you what finger should be used on specific keys. You can choose from different keyboard types which include QWERTY, AZERTY, Dvorak, ABNT2, etc.

If you find that the lessons have become easy after a while, you can go into the options menu and customize the lessons to suit your skill. Should you become bored with the lessons, a typing game is included to give you a fresh look at your typing exercises.

At the end of each lesson you’ll be shown a graph showing your progress. You can access your results at any time.

When you think back to your childhood and remember the toys you used to play with, there’s a good chance you’ll remember your Lego sets. Now that you’ve grown up you might feel embarrassed at being seen playing with Legos, but that doesn’t mean you don’t want to fool around with those delightful blocks anymore.

So what do you do when you get the urge to get a set for yourself? Go digital of course. Lego Digital Designer will let you play with those blocks again all from the comfort of your computer. It’s also free.

The program comes with a ton of pieces, you won’t be running out of blocks anytime soon. You can create any design that comes to mind or use any of the included rendered designs to edit or use as a base for your own designs.

Your Lego pieces are organized by shape and size. Remember when we said “a ton of pieces”? Well, you have an endless supply of blocks so build away. Using the 3D workshop may take a little getting used to as you need to put your blocks in the precise spot. Good thing you can rotate your workspace, zoom, and pan to view your design from any angle.

Bing Downloader Lets You Grab All The Wallpapers In Bing

Those of you who’ve tried Microsoft’s search engine, Bing, have probably noticed that the site has nice background images. While grabbing these images is simple enough, there’s another way to download the wallpaper without even having to visit the site.

BingDownloader is a free app the lets you download Bing wallpapers without having to visit the site. The app will download three images everyday from Bing US, Bing Japan, and international images.

The app is small, only 200KB and needs no installation. An interesting thing to note, however, is that you’ll need to create a folder called BingImages in the same folder where you have BingDownloader.

How To Manipulate Your Most Used Apps List In The XP Start Menu

Windows XP users, here’s a nice little app for you. How would you like to be able to easily manipulate what apps are displayed in the most used list in your start menu? It might not sound like a big deal, but it’s nice to have the option.

XP Run Counter is a free Windows XP app that lets you edit the run count of all your installed programs. The program doesn’t need to be installed. Just run it. Don’t expect a flashy GUI, it looks like any normal Windows XP app.

It may look plain, but it does the job it was made for. Just increase the run count of any app manually and it will show up in your list of most used apps in the start menu.

Simple and free. That’s how we like it.
