Infinity Ward has been busy banning Modern Warfare 3 cheaters. In fact, their ban hammer has hit 1,600 home runs so far. Yep, that’s 1,600 Modern Warfare 3 players banned for cheating, glitching, etc.

Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling said on Twitter:

“Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works. Please cont. to report offenders.”

Looks like they mean business.

If you’re playing Starcraft 2 and thinking of using a trainer to teach the single player AI a lesson, here’s some good advice: Don’t do it online. Why? Here are 5000 reasons why. Blizzard recently banned over 5,000 Starcraft 2 players that were caught cheating while connected to Battle.net.

To be fair, not all that were caught were cheating against people online. Some of them were using trainers in single player games. It just so happened that they were logged in to Battle.net and were therefore caught in the sweep. A perfect example of this can be found in Jason Shreier’s recent post.

So the next time the single player AI is beating you, don’t use a trainer. The game DOES have built-in codes for single player games and they’re legal.

YouTube Time Machine lets you pick an era and gives you a list of videos made during that time. A slider at the top of the page lets you choose which era you want, from 1860 – 2010. Impressed yet? I sure was.

A list on the right displays how many videos are available for that era and what genres they belong to. Site visitors can upload videos to add to the growing collection within YTTM. It’s a great idea and definitely one video site that everyone should have as a regular stop.

Here’s an excerpt from Google Blog’s announcement:

“With Caffeine, we analyze the web in small portions and update our search index on a continuous basis, globally. As we find new pages, or new information on existing pages, we can add these straight to the index. That means you can find fresher information than ever before—no matter when or where it was published.”

This should be good news for publishers who’ve wanted their content indexed faster than the way the old system worked. Still, we’re waiting to see if the new index will give lesser sites a better chance of showing up on the first few pages of search results.

Why the name? Well, part of the malware’s commented code contains the phrase “in nome di Chuck Norris” or “in the name of Chuck Norris”, and we all know that Chuck can break anything right?

The botnet resides in the router’s RAM so a restart should get rid of it. To prevent infection, just make sure you have a good password preferably something different than the default one. Finally, what’s an article about Chuck without a picture right? Here you go.

Not really hard to find but not instantly viewable either. Users can click on the link to activate the feature, or they can log into their YouTube account before turning on Safety Mode so the feature becomes the default setting for their account. Any search done once the feature is activated will filter results with violent or adult content.

How effective this will be depends on the parents and the age of the children browsing YouTube. Still, it’s a step in the right direction and some praise should be given to the site although they could make the link more visible by putting it on the top of each page.

Interestingly enough, Reuters reported that Friendster might be sold for $100 million to an Asian buyer at the end of this month.
