People who browse the Internet regularly go through a lot sites in one day. Sometimes, you remember a cool site you visited before and want to go back but can’t remember the name. The usual solution would be to go to your history and search for it there. If you can’t remember the name of what you’re looking for, you can either go through your history by using the time ranges (takes longer), or you can use Recall Monkey.

Recall Monkey is a Firefox Add-on that lets you search your Firefox history like you were using a search engine. Your search results are ranked based on how closely your query matches sites in your history. The add-on is still in its experimental stage so it may still have some bugs. No need to worry though since it was developed by Mozilla Labs.

Firefox 3.5 Beats IE7 And IE8 In Popularity Contest — Kind Of

Firefox 3.5 is finally the most popular web browser beating Internet Explorer 7 and 8 according to the latest numbers from StatCounter.

The results aren’t as clear-cut as you would think though. For Firefox to emerge number one, both of the popular web browser’s share had to be separated into version numbers. This means that technicalities aside, IE is still on top. Confusing? Not really, as the latest numbers prove that more people are switching to the latest version of Firefox.

For Mozilla, things are surely looking up.

Another Torrent Site Bites The Dust: Mininova Goes Legit

Another P2P site goes down in flames as popular torrent site Mininova has been forced to comply with the ruling of the Court Of Utrecht. They are now only offering Content Distribution torrents. An official announcement by the site can be viewed at the Mininova blog.

Here’s an excerpt from their official announcement:

Unfortunately the court ruling leaves us no other option than to take our platform offline, except for the Content Distribution service. According to the verdict we have to prevent uploads of torrents to Mininova that refer to certain titles or to similar-looking titles. We’ve been testing some filtering systems the last couple of months, but we found that it’s neither technically nor operationally possible to implement a 100% working filter system. Therefore, we decided that the only option is to limit Mininova to Content Distribution torrents from now on. We are still considering an appeal at this moment.
